Our 15-year-old client was walking home from school when a masonry wall separating a construction site from the sidewalk collapsed.
Final Result: $6,500,000
Our client was hit by a truck while riding a bicycle in a bicycle lane in Fort Lauderdale. Our client was knocked off the bicycle and had his right lower leg run over by the truck. After several surgeries to attempt to save his leg, our client was required to have a below-the-knee amputation. Despite the traumatic loss, our client made a terrific recovery with the help of a great prosthetics team.
Initial Offer: $250,000 | Final Result: $5.9 Million
Jury verdict for our client who slipped and fell on water in front of a water fountain at a Whole Foods Market. After being required to undergo multiple surgeries and contentious litigation, Jordan Kirby and Anthony Soto of Rubenstein Law were able to recover full justice for our client with a Broward County jury.
Initial Offer: $75,000 | Final Result: $1.6 Million
We obtained a jury verdict on this case of disputed liability against Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart denied liability and denied that our client was injured as a result of her fall. During trial, we demonstrated that Wal-Mart was the cause of our client’s fall and all of her injuries were due to the fall. The jury found Wal-Mart 85% liable.
Initial Offer: $750,000 | Final Result: $3,000,000
This is a wrongful death matter arising out of an industrial site accident. While our client was delivering merchandise, the defendant failed to follow industry standards during the process of unloading said merchandise, causing the merchandise to fall onto, and kill, our client. This case was hotly contested and resolved on the eve of trial when the insurance company tendered the maximum of their policy.
Initial Offer: $125,000 | Final Result: $1,750,000
After 4 days of trial, a Broward County jury returned a fair and just verdict for our client who slipped and fell at a Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market on November 19, 2018. Although our client had some pain initially, he was not seen for any immediate medical care. Twenty-one days later, our client decided his pain was not getting better and he needed medical help. After months of conservative medical care, our client was ultimately required to undergo a left knee arthroscopic surgery to repair medial and lateral meniscus tears, a two-level lumbar endoscopic microdiscectomy to repair herniations, and a left elbow ulnar transposition to help alleviate numbness running from his pinky finger to his elbow. While the surgeries significantly helped the pain and discomfort our client was feeling, he continued with pain, even up to the time of trial. The last offer from the defendant before trial was $200,000.
Final Result: $1,300,000
Brutal murder of elderly couple in mobile home park due in part to the failure of the property owner to properly and reasonably secure the premises from intrusion by criminals. The property allowed an access point through a fence that had been broken for some time before this incident. We became involved through a referral from retiring counsel to proceed to trial. After extensive discovery revealed the true nature of the negligence of the property owner, the parties reached a resolution.

I am a native New Yorker, raised in the Bronx by immigrant parents who instilled in me the value of serving those in need. During my time at SUNY Buffalo, I joined the International Institute of Buffalo, assisting newly arrived refugees in securing employment, housing, and social services, and helping them rebuild their communities. I graduated with a B.A. in Political Science in 2012 and returned to New York City to participate in a nationwide AmeriCorps program focused on improving anti-poverty non-profits.
In this role, I collaborated with various NYC non-profits to identify their technological needs, recruited volunteer IT engineers, and managed technical projects such as enhancing web presence, providing ongoing hardware support, and conducting technology training sessions. These efforts helped non-profits make a greater impact on issues affecting low-income individuals and families in NYC.
While attending the City University School of Law, I sharpened my trial advocacy skills in Moot Court and held internships with the District Attorney’s Office in the Bronx and Kings County. I observed criminal trials, drafted decisions during judicial internships with the Bronx Supreme Court and Kings County Criminal Court. After obtaining my Juris Doctorate in 2016, I served as an Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office, where I investigated and prosecuted hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases, including assaults, aggravated offenses, domestic violence, DUI/DWIs, gun possession, juvenile offenses, and targeted violent offenses.
Subsequently, I transitioned to civil law practice at a medical practice defense firm, representing doctors, hospitals, insurance companies, and municipalities. Driven by a desire to serve those in need, I joined a plaintiff’s personal injury firm specializing in all areas of litigation, from the initial filing of claims to courtroom defense. Leveraging my experience as a prosecutor, I approach each case with thorough investigation, striving for justice and securing millions on behalf of clients and their families by holding defendants accountable for their negligent actions.
I am dedicated to achieving the highest possible compensation for my clients through case resolutions and settlements. Establishing client trust by providing attentive support throughout the litigation process is crucial to my practice. Passionate about advocating for all victims, I offer meticulous legal guidance to those who cannot fight for themselves.

This Black History Month, we’re highlighting 12 trailblazing African American lawyers whose advocacy, resilience, and groundbreaking achievements have not only challenged systemic injustices but have also paved the way for generations to come. Join us as we honor their unwavering dedication to the pursuit of equality, their pivotal role in shaping the legal landscape, and their enduring impact on society.

Macon Bolling Allen was the first African American licensed to practice law in the United States, gaining admission to the Maine bar in 1844. His legal career was marked by several milestones, including becoming the first African American to hold a judicial position when he was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in Massachusetts in 1848. Later, in 1865, he became the first African American to be admitted to the bar of the Supreme Court of the United States. Allen’s achievements not only broke racial barriers in the legal profession but also paved the way for future generations of African American lawyers and judges.

Born in the slave state of Delaware in 1823, Mary Ann Shadd Cary was the first Black woman publisher in North America. Her paper, “The Provincial Freeman,” advocated for abolition, education, and civil rights. She was also the first woman published in Canada. In 1850, she became the first Black woman to earn a law degree in the United States and the second woman overall. Cary used her legal training to advocate for the rights of African Americans and women, particularly in her work as a teacher, journalist, and activist.

Charlotte E. Ray became the first African American woman lawyer in the United States when she was admitted to the District of Columbia Bar in 1872. Her legal career was marked by several milestones, including her graduation from Howard University School of Law in 1872, where she faced discrimination as one of the few women and African Americans in her class. Despite these challenges, Ray persisted in her pursuit of legal excellence, blazing a trail for future African American lawyers and women.

Jane Bolin became the first African American female judge in the United States when she was appointed to the bench of the New York City Domestic Relations Court in 1939 by Mayor Fiorello La Guardia. Throughout her career, Bolin advocated for children and families, working to ensure fair treatment and access to justice for all. She served on the bench with distinction for over 40 years, breaking racial and gender barriers in the legal profession and leaving a lasting legacy of courage and dedication to equality.

Thurgood Marshall was renowned for his pioneering achievements in the realm of civil rights and jurisprudence. As a lawyer, Marshall played a pivotal role in dismantling racial segregation and inequality through his strategic litigation efforts. Notably, he successfully argued the landmark case Brown v. Board of Education before the Supreme Court in 1954, leading to the historic decision that declared segregation in public schools unconstitutional. Prior to his appointment as the first African American justice on the Supreme Court in 1967, Marshall served as the chief counsel for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, where he litigated numerous cases challenging segregation and discrimination.

Constance Baker Motley broke barriers when she became the first African American woman to serve as a federal judge. Before her judicial appointment, Motley distinguished herself as a civil rights attorney, playing a crucial role in numerous landmark cases during the civil rights movement. She was instrumental in crafting legal strategies and arguing cases before the Supreme Court, including Meredith v. Fair and Brown v. Board of Education.

Fred Gray fearlessly litigated groundbreaking cases that challenged segregation and discrimination in the Jim Crow South. He represented Rosa Parks in the Montgomery Bus Boycott case, which catalyzed the civil rights movement. Gray also played a crucial role in litigating the landmark case of Browder v. Gayle, which ultimately led to the desegregation of public transportation in Alabama. His legal victories not only reshaped the legal field but also served as catalysts for social change in the pursuit of civil rights and equality for all.

As the first African American woman to serve in the Texas Senate since Reconstruction and the first African American woman from the South elected to the United States House of Representatives, Barbara Jordan broke down racial and gender barriers in politics and law. Throughout her career, she championed civil rights, voting rights, and social justice causes. Jordan gained national prominence for her eloquent and impassioned speech during the Watergate hearings, where she upheld the rule of law and the Constitution.

Clarence Thomas became the second African American Supreme Court Justice in 1991. Throughout his career, Thomas has been recognized for his conservative judicial philosophy and commitment to originalism. Prior to his appointment to the Supreme Court, Thomas served as the Chairman of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where he worked to enforce laws prohibiting workplace discrimination. As a Supreme Court justice, Thomas has authored a multitude of opinions that have shaped American jurisprudence, particularly in areas such as civil rights, constitutional law, and administrative law.

Eric Holder Jr. became the first African American Attorney General of the United States under President Barack Obama’s administration. Holder’s leadership at the Department of Justice was characterized by his commitment to upholding the rule of law, protecting civil rights, and promoting criminal justice reform. During his tenure, Holder worked to address issues such as voting rights, police misconduct, and national security, earning praise for his efforts to advance equality and fairness within the legal system. Holder also played a key role in the prosecution of terrorism cases and the successful litigation of landmark civil rights cases.

Loretta Lynch notably became the first African American woman to serve as Attorney General of the United States. Throughout her career, Lynch has been recognized for her steadfast commitment to upholding the rule of law, promoting civil rights, and combating injustice. As Attorney General, she played a pivotal role in addressing issues such as criminal justice reform, voting rights, and police-community relations. Lynch’s leadership was characterized by her efforts to enhance trust in law enforcement and promote accountability, exemplified by her oversight of high-profile investigations and prosecutions.

Before he became the first African American President of the United States, Barack Obama had already begun breaking barriers. He demonstrated his legal acumen early in his career by becoming the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review. Obama’s work as a civil rights attorney and community organizer in Chicago underscored his commitment to fighting discrimination and advocating for marginalized communities. In his tenure as a state senator in Illinois, Obama championed legislation on ethics reform, healthcare, and education. As the 44th President of the United States, Obama signed landmark legislation such as the Affordable Care Act, which expanded healthcare coverage to millions. He also made historic judicial appointments, including nominating two justices to the Supreme Court, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan.

I was born and raised in Miami, Florida. As the only daughter of Cuban immigrants I learned at an early age the value of hard work and perseverance.
I attended Florida International University where I obtained a Bachelors degree in Organization Communications and a minor in Psychology in December 2019. I went on to St. Thomas University College of Law and obtained a J.D. in May of 2023.
While at STU Law, I held the distinguished position of Vice President of Membership for our Trial Team and was chosen to compete on behalf of Trial Team. I competed in numerous in-house competitions and the Chester Bedell Mock Trial Competition helping place STU Law as one of the top 25 mock trial programs in the nation.
Prior to joining Rubenstein Law, I was a judicial clerk for the Honorable Judge Migna Sanchez-Llorens for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida. I also worked at numerous law firms that practiced first-party property insurance, personal injury and family law.
In my free time I enjoy traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
I am a proud native of Miami, Florida and the first attorney in my family. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology, from The Florida State University, and later earned my Juris Doctor degree from The Florida State University College of Law in 2009. I was fortunate to return to my hometown to start my legal career, advocating and protecting the residents of Miami-Dade County as an Assistant State Attorney in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. As an Assistant State Attorney, I prosecuted 100’s of cases, to verdict, from criminal traffic infractions to drug trafficking. As a selected member of Community Prosecution Unit of the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, I was instrumental in starting the Junior ASA Program at area high schools, as well as supporting and educating community members about the criminal justice system throughout the county. For the past ten years, I have investigated personal injury protection, homeowners’ insurance matters and fraudulent claims on behalf of insurance carriers. As an attorney at Rubenstein Law, I have the privilege of representing victims of crimes, individuals affected by others negligence, and fighting for the justice they deserve.
I am a proven leader and community supporter. I am a proud mentor with Women of Tomorrow, a Board Member on the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, a Board Member for Big Dreams for Her, a member of the South Broward Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a Member of the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association, a Member of the TJ Reddick Bar Association, a Wish Granter with the Make A Wish Foundation, and on the Florida Bar- Leadership Academy Committee. My core values aid me to leading a balanced life socially and professionally.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, traveling, and rooting for the Florida State Seminoles.

Our client was severely injured when she slipped and fell in liquid on the floor at the store where she was shopping. As a result of her fall, our client had to ultimately undergo a cervical surgery after her conservative care failed to relieve her symptoms.
Due to the diligent work of Board Certified Civil Trial Attorney Tim Vannatta, we were able to uncover that the store’s employees were aware that there was liquid on the floor, but nevertheless failed to timely clean it up. This helped lead to a $1,000,000.00 settlement for our client.
This year’s Key Largo Celebrating Freedom Parade brought the community together to commemorate the spirit of freedom and independence. The parade kicked off with a grand procession of floats, marching bands, and community groups, all showing off their patriotic colors.
With activities for all to enjoy, this year’s Independence Day Celebration was a wonderful time for families to show off their Fourth of July spirit. Food trucks filled the air with the smell of delicious food as the local chefs cooked all evening long. The apple pie baking contest drew some of the area’s most patriotic bakers to compete for glory. Brave parade-goers of all ages attempted the inflatable obstacle course, which left participants laughing and smiling. Bringing all the spectators together during the celebration, the Patriotic People & Puppy Parade showed off custom red, white, and blue costumes alongside some four-legged friends!

Peterson’s Harley-Davidson of Miami teamed up with the Latin America Motorcycle Association (LAMA) to provide a grill out to remember! Rubenstein Law was proud to be a vendor and connect with the community on this memorable day.
People from all across the area rode out to Peterson’s Harley-Davidson for an afternoon of grilled food, cold drinks, and live music including a bikini bike wash! It was a cloudy day with warm weather, cold beverages, and full bellies that brought everyone together. We had a great time handing out towels, sunglasses and footballs to all the old friends and new faces.
Rubenstein Law looks forward to reuniting with LAMA and Peterson’s Harley-Davidson again for more fun-filled activities with our friends in the Miami community.

Born and raised in the dynamic environment of South Florida, I am driven by a passion for helping others and creating positive change. I earned my bachelor’s degree in International Business from Florida International University, graduating summa cum laude in 2018. During my undergraduate years, I discovered my calling to assist those in need through my involvement with the Bandhwari Women’s Project, where I played a pivotal role in helping a village of women in India establish their own textile business, providing them with financial independence.
Continuing my education at Florida International University, I pursued a dual J.D./MBA degree and graduated cum laude in 2022, further expanding my knowledge and skills. My journey into the professional world began as a financial planner at a major financial firm in New York, where I gained valuable experience in managing financial matters.
Eager to align my career with my passion for making a positive impact, I joined Rubenstein Law. I am excited to contribute to a team of dedicated professionals committed to helping those who have been injured.
I look forward to making a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients.
Born in Havana, Cuba, and raised in the vibrant city of Miami, Florida, I was witness to my parents’ fearless journey into a new country. Their unwavering commitment to hard work and dedication became my guiding principles for achieving success.
I embarked on my academic journey at Florida International University, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology in June 2019. Subsequently, I pursued my passion for the law, culminating in the attainment of a Juris Doctor degree from St. Thomas University College of Law in May 2023.
During my time at STU Law, I took on leadership roles, serving as the Vice President of the Tort Law Society, actively contributing to the Cuban American Student Bar Association, and participating as a valued member of the award-winning STU Law Trial Team. Notably, I was selected to compete for the prestigious Chester Bedell Mock Trial Competition in Orlando, Florida, in January of 2022.
My legal journey has been marked by hands-on experience, including law clerk positions at various boutique personal injury firms, and obtaining a pivotal role as a judicial intern for the Honorable Judge Abby Cynamon in the Spring of 2022. In the Fall of 2022, I joined Rubenstein Law as a law clerk, and am now proudly joining the team as an attorney.
Outside of my legal pursuits, I enjoy cooking, reading, and cherishing moments with family, friends, and my dogs.
I began my practice as a defense lawyer at the largest defense firm in Florida, where I was named partner. During this time, I represented individuals and companies accused of causing catastrophic injury and death due to automobile negligence, premises liability, product liability, and medical malpractice. This helped me gain invaluable insight into how large businesses and insurance companies attempt to defend and devalue legitimate claims. Following this, I transitioned into representing individuals significantly injured or killed due to the fault of another, including slip/trip and fall type incidents, motor vehicle collisions, as well as representing injured railroad workers covered under the Federal Employers’ Liability Act.
